Record anything from any source
WireTap Studio is a serious solution to record anything from your Mac. What used to be called WireTap Pro is still as reliable as ever, all in a small interface that lets you record, edit and save your audio in any format.
WireTap Studio can both software and hardware sounds so long as you select the input source. There are two available in the interface. Just press the recording button to get started. Once you are done WireTap Studio will open up a new editor window, which will display the waveform of your recording. Although editing is a little basic, you can still select areas of the wave, add markers and cut and paste. Even better, all recording in WireTap Studio is lossless, so you don't degrade your audio, and thanks to LivePreview Bliss you can listen to the recording before saving.
WireTap Studio allows you to save audio in any popular format, including MP3, AAC and MP4. It includes a range of presets you can choose from. Otherwise you can tweak the format yourself in the edit window. WireTap Studio only has two sets of effects available Camel Studio and Apple but you can add some yourself.
Once ready, your audio can be exported to any destination, whether a folder in your Mac, your iPod, iPhone or iDisk. I was a little disappointed with the email feature in WireTap Studio, which felt a bit limited though.
Need to record anything on your Mac? WireTap Studio is the app you need. Intuitive and powerful.

Problems of running on MAC OSX 10.6.8.
Used WireTapStudio 1.0.11 on MAC OSX 10.5.8 all works fine. After update to MAC OSX 10.6 and all the updates to 10.6.8 WTS 1.0.11 does not recordd anything - not internal - not external - not from mic. Tryed to install to version WTS 1.1.1 but MAC OSX 10.6.8 shows that the WTS 1.1.1 was not compatibel with this system - surprisingly cause ambrosia shurly tell that both WTS 1.0.11 and WTS 1.1.1 will both work on MAC OSX 10.6.8 so not clear why both are not working. Quicktime version is up to date QT 10.
Pros:
the app worked well before update on MAC OSX 10.5.8
Cons:
Ambrosia support shuld answer eMail request esp. from licenced clients More

WireTap Studio crashes the entire computer in Mac OS 10.8.1 .
WireTap has worked well with previous versions of the Mac OS — but not Mac OS 10.8.1 ! It consistently causes the entire computer to crash, not just the application, requiring a the computer to be restarted! In all of my years of using various versions of Mac OS 10, this is the first time that an app has consistently brought my computer down, reminding me of the days of OS 9, when we expected the computer to crash on a regular basis.
Pros:
Works great in older operating systems
Cons:
CRASHES THE COMPUTER IN MAC OS 10.8 More
